"Hi! I’m Jennifer on behalf of expertvillage.com. A Perfect Fit Alterations, 102 S. Main Street, Burleson, Texas, 817-447-3522. Today we’re going to talk about a handy tool used in alterations and also as a notion is string. We can use this in waistbands to make jogging pants, the waist in jogging pants smaller. We can use this in hoodies when we’re making hoodies to use it at the neck. We can also use this to make children’s pants, use it in the waistband to make children’s pants tighter. We use this in alterations to make piping, we would put it in a piece of fabric, select any type of piece of fabric that we want, you insert it into the fabric and then sew very close to edge and it will make a decorative piping that you can use in all different types of projects. You would generally use quite a bit of piping on pillows, throw pillows that you’re making for your couch, I’ve seen lots of piping on formal wear and around necks on children’s garments, it’s a very useful tool.
