on 7/14/2009 Transparent thread is good for fabrics which have an odd color and is difficult to match to. Or in hand sewing, transparent thread cannot be seen if mistakes are made.

Video Transcript

"Hi! I’m Jennifer on behalf of expertvillage.com. A Perfect Fit Alterations, 102 S. Main Street, Burleson, Texas, 817-447-3522. In this clip we’re going to talk about thread, the different types of thread that you’re going to need for the different projects that you’re sewing. This is an all-purpose general sewing thread, you can find this in most cloth stores, you’re going to wan to match the thread to whatever fabric you’re using it with. There are different types of thread, this one would be the all-purpose thread. Then you have a rayon thread which you’re going to use for very fine light weight fabrics. We have a transparent thread and then we have an over lock thread, usually you would buy 2 or 3 of these to use on your over lock machine, that would be to do edging and things of that nature. And these are your different threads. "
