"Hi! I’m Jennifer on behalf of expertvillage.com. A Perfect Fit Alterations, 102 S. Main Street, Burleson, Texas, 817-447-3522. Today we’re going to talk about horsehair braid and no, it’s not made of horsehair. Years ago women would use this to put in hems at the edge of their formal wear and it was made of horsehair, they used the tail and they braided it in to stiffen the outside of the hems, today it’s made of 100 % polyester, no horses at all. This is put in the edging of bridesmaids’ dresses, wedding dresses and most formal wear where you want the hem to stand out. On the back of the package of the horsehair braid, it will give you instructions on how to install a horsehair braid into your hem properly. "
