"It's Jerimae Yoder with Expert Village today I'm talking about performing solo. So you want to make your performances as memorable as possible. Have a story that really connects with song that you're going to do so make it a point at some place that you set where you change it up a little bit. Maybe you put your guitar on your back and you break out a harmonica and you do a little harmonica solo, or maybe even loop the harmonica solo or something like that. Or maybe a little ambient kind of thing or maybe you start with your guitar and put a little delay on it, you just do something really quick and you loop that or you're just playing a little bit. You know just playing a little B minor or something in there then you go into a D, and you just go back and forth and then you start to talk about what's going on with this next song that you're going to play. See what I'm saying? Start to create a little memorable moment in there that people can go "oh, hey I like that guy he was really cool" even if they don't buy a CD that night eventually there going to want to because they heard you. And you connected with them and that's what gets people to like you by connecting with them, do something different do something other bands aren't doing. You see a lot of acoustic guitar players up there with the mic and "la la la and doing their thing, doing chord, chord", but you don't see a lot of acoustic players throwing their guitar in the air or have some of those flip things to throw their guitar to the back. Or you know even kicking their foot out and do some crazy stuff like that or pointing to the audience and getting into it. One time I was doing this show it was kind of like a youth type of deal with a bunch of high school kids I was playing I had this army hat on, it was really low and I was just jamming to a song and I took my hat off at a point, and I throw it across the stage and I kid you not; I looked out and there we're two dudes standing right on the front row and they looked at each other and gave each other high fives. Boom, I connected with them just by being a little theatrical by doing a little something that was out of the ordinary I created a memorable moment for those guys, so do that create memorable moments."
