"Hey this is Jerimae Yoder with Expert Village today I'm talking about solo today so you need to find a place to play after you got your set list together after you got your songs done and you've been rehearsing. Maybe your making some phone calls to different venues around your local area, some places to think about obviously coffee houses. Coffee houses don't pay a whole lot but if you can get your friends to come and have a little nice donation bucket or something there. You may make some cash but it probably won't pay your rent for the next month other places to look into opening for other bands, it's a brilliant way to get your name out there. A brilliant way for venue owners to get to see who you are, what you do and what your about, knock there sock off get out there and do a great performance and open up for this other band. You may have a shot at getting on the stage and having your own show at some point, and having another local artist or another solo act open for you. Other good places to play that are usually paying events fairs, county fairs other city events go to for instance, we had one called heart beat where a lot of artist came out, a lot of other musicians came out, and we're able to sell there CD's and things like that. There was a stage set up that one was specifically for free but there are other things going on where they're looking for talent all the time. Getting contact with other websites go through your local city websites see when there's another event coming up, get to know the coordinator for that event and pitch them what you do. Send them a promo pack, send them a CD and maybe you'll get on as being one of the acts or even an opening act for a major act that's coming through. Some friends of mine recently opened up for a national touring act they just happened to be at the right place at the right time, I told the coordinator for a county fair that they would like to play there. All of sudden there's a national act coming through and they get to open up for them, it's pretty awesome it's pretty cool deal, so keep your eye open for those types of things."
