"Hi welcome back to Expert Village where we're learning all about scrap booking on the show Arts and Crafts and Everything Fun. I'm your host Grace Fraga and my guest here is Sonya Shepard from The Crop Circle. And we are going to learn now how to matte our photos. Exactly. Matting your photos is again a way to create definition between your photos and the background paper, that has a lot of color, really makes your scrapbook layouts look very professional, very creative. People always think, oh that's so beautiful, when really it's just a piece of card stock behind your photos. So it's very easy to do, in fact, you can do them without even your photos. If you're bored one night you can just start creating mattes. What you want to do is you want to cut a piece of card stock that is a half an inch larger than your photos both in length and width. So your typical photo is four by six, and I've cut mine four and a half by six and a half. OK. And I've actually cut a second matte, that means that this is going to be double matted, and I made that five by seven. So we're going to just king of stick this under here. And Sonya you cut it with a trimmer, right? Exactly. We cut it with a paper trimmer; once again it's our essential tool. We're using it for everything but look how that just pops. Oh, my god, that is just gorgeous, can we get a shot of that? Look at that. That's beautiful. What a difference! Just such a difference. And then if we're going to be laying our photos, it creates, it really helps us layer our photos. Now we can sort of put that on top of there and it pops. It's beautiful. It looks really nice, and again it's so simple to do. All of your photos should be matted. That is great. Also, make sure that the colors kind of match your layout. Exactly. You're picking colors that are matching the colors in your pictures as well as the colors in your background pages. That's fantastic. Beautiful. So what are we going to learn next? Next we're going to adhere it with our Vario tag dispenser, our favorite little buddy. Great and then we'll have our little page all set. Exactly. Our page will be ready to go. Stay tuned for that."
