"Hi. Welcome back to Expert Village "Arts and Crafts and Everything Fun". And we're learning all about scrapbooking with my guest, Sonya Shepherd from The Crop Circle. And now we're going to learn how to keep it simple. Absolutely. When we're looking at composing a layout, Grace, we always have more photos than we have space for. Yes. That's just the reality of it. We need to get a little ruthless when it comes to our photos. We may like the millions of pictures of plants and flowers that we took, but we really only need a couple of them in our scrapbook to capture that essence. So don't get too attached to your photos. Exactly. Keep the ones that are really important. The ones that are really important are the ones that are telling the story. You can pick your main photos, then pick the ones that back that up, sort of the supporting photos. And make some room, again, for the journaling and the other memorabilia that you may have; ticket stubs, that sort of thing. You want to keep it simple. Great. And, what are some examples of keeping it simple? Well, some examples of keeping it simple are: This is a really fun photo; I was trying to capture the really pretty oranges of the bougainvillea, but again, do you need a 4 x 6 in your scrapbook of the bougainvillea? Maybe not so much. What you can do, is you can crop around this and kind of focus in on some of the blooms, or can you go to maybe a general picture that does fill up the frame a little bit more, a little bit more of an artistic shot. That sort of thing. You really have to start looking at "Do I really want a picture of the front of the hotel, or do I want a picture of the inside of the cathedral?" Yeah, the inside of the cathedral is prettier. Exactly. It's got a little bit more of an aesthetic quality; it is a little bit more memorable. That is why you went to Guatemala in the first place. Exactly. So you really want to get a little ruthless with your photos. Make sure you have ones of people. Make sure you put some photos in of yourself. I know everybody gets a little funny about pictures of themselves, but really. We don't care if everybody else looks awful. As long as we look good, we're going to use that one. Exactly. So, make sure you keep yourself in your scrapbook too. But you want to keep it simple. The truth is we don't have enough time in the day to do everything. Exactly. Great. So keep it simple. And, what's coming up next? Next, we're going to put together this layout. Oh fun. I can't wait. Let's do that. All right. Stay tuned"
