"Hi, welcome back to Expert Village. Arts and crafts and everything fun! And today we're learning all about scrap booking. How to compose a layout. And now we're going to learn how to mix and match photos and papers. Absolutely, Grace. You're going to walk into your scrapbook store like the Crop Circle, and you're going to see, hundreds of different colors of paper, prints of paper, a ton of different things. And you're going to love them all, I guarantee! And so what do you do? You just start buying and buying and then hope something matches? Well, you could, but it would cost a lot of money. But what you really want to do is you want to make sure that you're picking papers and colors that are matching your theme of your photo, as well as the colors of your photo. You want to make sure that you're really enhancing your photo. Let's not lose the forest through the trees. That sort of thing. But we want to make sure that we are really bringing the beauty of the photos out. So you brought some examples? Yes, I did. This is the owner?s son, Ben Michendel, he's going to be a star baseball player one day. There you go! We need an autograph there! Seriously! Get him while you can ladies! He's going to love me for that one, by the way! Now we've got some beautiful purple paper, I love purple, but it's not really a great choice for this picture because he's wearing a navy blue uniform. It's not horrible, but it just doesn't really add to it and in fact, it kind of distracts from it. So that?s not a great... It overpowers the photo, yes is does. It's just too much. Then we could go with a more neutral, which is not great, a little boring, but kind of blends with the background, too because there's a lot of cream here. Exactly! So it sort of washes Ben out and we definitely don't want that! And we absolutely, under no circumstances would want to pair Ben with basketball paper because this is going to be baseball. So that's some things that you want to keep in mind. You want to really have your pictures in your brain while you're shopping for your scrap book supplies that you're picking out materials. So matching your photo to the colors of the paper that you're using and the themes. The card stock and the prints. Absolutely! Don't mix apples and oranges. No. Just make it, keep it uniform. Keep it simple. That's great! Alright! So what's coming up next? Well now we're going to actually look at some different ways you can actually mix different types of prints together. It's a little scary when people think about mixing polka dots and stripes, and they don't think they can do it, but we're going to show you some easy ways to do that. Oh nice, I can't wait! That's coming up next!"
