"Grace: Hi, welcome back to Expert Village. And today, Sonya Shepherd from the Crop Circle is teaching us how to salvage your photo album. Sonya: That's right, Grace. Open up this album, and tell me what you see. Grace: Ooh, a lot of brown. Sonya: A lot of brown. Yep. We've got a lot of discoloration on the pages that are transferring, actually, onto these photos, if you can see that. Why is your scrapbook doing that? Well, its chemicals called acid and lignin. They were found in all sorts of photo albums, all the old scrapbooks, all the old papers. And those are the chemicals that are destroying your photos and destroying your memories. And that's why your scrapbooks are deteriorating. The thing you need to do, if you've got the albums at home, and we all do, is getting them out now. Don't wait until you have the time to scrapbook. Get them out of these old books now. Grace: Why? Because then what's going to happen? Sonya: Well, the longer you leave them in there, the longer the deterioration process is going to go. So the photos are going to continue to discolor. They're going to continue to age. They can even begin to disintegrate. And you just want to stop the process now by getting them out of the damaging books. Grace: Ok, well, so everybody who's watching, go ahead. Grab your old photo album, and take all the photos as soon as possible. And here Sonya is going to teach us how to revamp it and salvage it. Sonya: Exactly. We're going to show you how to get them out. Grace: That's coming up next."
