"Hi. Welcome to Expert Village. I'm Gretchen Soares and today we're going to be making a rag blanket. Okay, next we're going to be talking about determining the size of our finished blanket and how we're going to go about doing that. I like to make a blanket a little bit bigger. We're going to make these for a bigger child, so crib size or toddler bed size is a great size to make it. It has enough body that it's going to cover the entire child and keep them warm, but not so much so that you're carrying around a full twin size blanket. Especially with children who love to cart their blankets everywhere with them. This isn't a bad size to carry around. It's useful and yet it's not huge and cumbersome. A lot of times if I'm using a recycled blanket, the amount of fabric I have determines the finished product. But for the most part, anywhere from a five inch to a nine inch square pieced together, and your going to lose two inches on each seam. So keep that in mind when you're figuring out your fabric usage. So this piece has six rows, no seven rows because I can't count, by five rows wide."
