"Hi, I’m Faith and I’m with Flat Fork Studio, and I’m here to discuss the different kinds of adhesives that you might want to use in doing your tile mosaic project. There’s several different applications. You first need to decide whether or not your piece is going to be interior or exterior. Because the different products- there’s some products that are available for interior use that might not hold up as well to the elements for exterior use. One of my favorites that I use is Liquid Nails. This I can use for interior or exterior, it’s a heavy-duty, construction, remodeling adhesive. I put that in the caulk gun and I can take each tile say in this area, at the vertical surface- so sometimes it might be a little easier to use Liquid Nails on a vertical surface, say for this pot. What I’ll do is I’ll take a piece of tile, each one, and I’ll just dab just a little dot of the Liquid Nails onto it and place it where I want to go. This is just really easy to use, and it’s very durable. The grout that you use will actually be what really cements your piece down and holds it in place. The next product- say if you’re doing a stepping stone, or a table- you might want to use a thinset. And this is what is traditionally used for adhering tiles, is a thinset mortar. And those are the two different kinds of adhesives that I would use in making tile mosaics. "
