"FRANCIS JOSEPH SANTORI: Let's detune it for a second. Sounds ugly, right? You can hear the pitch changing with the tightening of the tuning peg. These tuning pegs are a little special. They're actually mechanical in spite of their old-style look. But what you typically have to do is push in and tighten your tuning peg on a traditional cello tuning peg, because it is only held in there by friction. So in order to get it in there and make sure it stays there, you have to really push in, and I push in this way, gripping on the side of the scroll and adding, getting leverage this way. Same with this. And you would tune like so."
