Summary: Attach a lid to the finished tube of a kaleidoscope. Learn how to finish making a kaleidoscope from a craftsman in this free art video.
"Now that our lid has been decorated with the beads and sequences were ready to attach it to the kaleidescope and were going to put it on to the edge of the kaleidoscope were we have our wooden skewer stick extended and we have the sharp point. So we go ahead and insert it into the lid. Now we have already made a hole in our previous step. So it should go on prettily easily and we want it to go until it is about an quarter of an inch away from the actual body of the kaleidoscope. We don't want it to sit totally flush because then as we turn it. It is going to scrape off the beads and the sequences that we glued on in a previous step. So we want to just give enough space so that we can turn it freely and still be close enough so that it gives a reflection on the metal strips the reflective strips that we have inside the kaleidoscope. So we go ahead and put the lid on to our stick and now were left with a sharp end. So what we want to do is just attach a small bead that we prepared and were going to put it onto the end of the skewer stick to cover up that sharp point and also help the lid from falling off even though that we don't have a large hole in the lid. But it will still keep some; have some extra security so that it doesn't go flying off as it get turned around. Sometimes the hole can get bigger. So I put the bead with a little bit of glue onto the stick and if I am using a bead that doesn't stay it has a bigger hole in it and it want to slide all the way to the end of the stick. So then I can put it on to the stick a little bit further down and then the sharp edge that is just sticking out I can just go ahead and cut it off. So now I have placed the lid on the end of the kaleidoscope and I have closed off that sharp edge of the stick with a bead. So now that all we have to do is just spin the lid and we will see as the beads and the sequences are reflected off of the three sides on the inside of the kaleidoscope we get all of those different formations that were use to when looking into a kaleidoscope. It?s a really fun project and the thing I love about these projects is once were done there is just hours and hours of fun waiting for us after were finished. So this really great project very easy to do and I am sure you will enjoy it."
