Summary: When glued to a kaleidoscope lid, beads will help to form the patterns viewed inside. Learn how to make a kaleidoscope from beads and reflective paper in this free art video.
"Now I am ready to make the lid with the beads and the sequences and get it ready to be attached to the kaleidoscope. The first thing I want to do before I start decorating the lid is to make a hole in the middle and that same hole is going to be where it sits on the Kaleidoscope on our wooden stick that is already attached to it. So I can take any sharp object. I just happened to take another skewer that the sharp end can make a nice hole right into the middle of the lid. And now I am going to put glue around the lid and I will put it in different spots, different areas because I want the beads and the sequences to be very spread out onto the lid. So I do not have to cover the whole thing with glue, but I just put it into spots where I want the beads to stick. Now I can go ahead and take my beads and sequences and just sprinkle them around the top of the lid and we put it over the drops of glue that we put on. And we see that it sticks nicely, it just sits right in place. They are very small so they kind of sink right into the glue. I find that the rubber cement glue works best for this. It is strong glue and it also dries quickly so I don't have to wait too long. It does not hold me up when I am doing my project. So I sprinkle it around in any spots of glue that I have left or any places that I feel that are empty spaces and I want to put more beads or sequences I just go ahead and drop them onto those spaces. If I need to put more glue I can also add some more drops of glue. The varied of the colors and sizes is going to be what creates the different form, the formations inside the Kaleidoscope so it is important to really try and vary as much as you can the colors and the different sizes of the beads or the sequences. Now you do not have to feel like you have to cover the entire lid. Even though the beads and the sequences are spaced out it is still going to create the different types of shapes inside the Kaleidoscope because everything is being reflected from three sides. So you do not have to cover the entire thing. In fact, it is probably better that you have space in between because it creates more room for the formations to take effect. So now I have shown you how to take the lid, cover it with glue, and put some beads and sequences on it and get it ready for attaching to our kaleidoscope."
