"Now we're going to make some decorations from our contact paper to put on the measuring board. I'm going to be using different colors of contact paper, but they're all nice bright colors and they're going to stand out on our blue background, which is a little bit dark. So I go ahead and turn the contact paper over and I see that I have some shapes and some guidelines on the back of the contact paper. I go ahead and start drawing out some images and, because of the lines on the back of the contact paper, most of my images is going to be of geometric shapes. So I'm going to cut around the lines that I've made, using my guidelines on the back of the contact paper. From all these geometric shapes that I'm cutting out, the circles and triangles and squares, I'm going to combine them to make up different images, like a house or a kite and things like that. So I go ahead and just go through all of my contact paper, making different shapes. Of course your measuring board could be made of all different types of decorations, but nothing is easier than using contact paper, because all you have to do is peel off the back and it glues right onto the plastic measuring board. So it is really easy. Now, the shapes that I decided to make, I planned out beforehand, so I know I?m going to want a yellow sunshine and a house with a triangular roof to it. The decorations with the geometric shapes is usually associated with, looks very basic, usually associated with little kids, so it gives a nice effect to the entire project, knowing that it's going to decorate a child's room. So that's why I'm sticking to the geometric shapes for this project; I always like it. It gives it a nice look and when it's finished, you know that you've done a project for children. Also, if children are going to be making this project, they really enjoy cutting so there's no right and wrong here. You can let them cut out different shapes and then you can go ahead and just peel off the back and glue it right onto the measuring board. So that's also something to consider when you're planning your project. So now I've shown you how to make geometric shapes out of the contact paper, and get them ready for placing on top of the measuring board."
