Summary: Your sticks need to be about six inches long. Learn how to make a silhouette puppet show in this free crafts video.
"Now I'm going to show you how to glue the images onto the end of the stick that will be used for holding the image from a distance. We're going to need a stick that will be about six inches long and that will give us enough space, so when the light shines on the screen, that your hand will not be able to be seen, but only the image on the end. So we cut the sticks or we can use a pencil, which is pretty much the size that we need. The stick that we're using should be a little thick, so that we can have enough space on the end of it to glue the image. I'm going to be using these skewers to make it easier. I'm going to stick them into the Styrofoam board and then I'm going to put the image on top of the stick and let it sit there until the glue dries. This is just one way of doing it, but if you're using a stick that's thick enough, you probably won't need to do this. And then we go ahead and glue all the images that we're going to be using to different sticks. The Styrofoam board is also useful for storing the images as well, because when you put them down, when you lay them on a table, even though they're dry, they might tend to snap off. So the Styrofoam board is not only good for a place to let the images dry, but it's also good for storing the images when you're done with the show. So now I've shown you how to attach the images to the end of the sticks and cut the sticks to the right size so that they'll be the right distance from the back of the screen, where you won't be able to see anything in the background, any hands moving or any motions."
