Summary: Cut as close to the outside as you can when making the rings for your game. Learn how to make a ring toss game in this free crafts video.
"Now we're ready to make the plastic rings for the game. We're going to be using the plastic lids that I mentioned before. The way we do that is we first take the lids, and fold them in half, and once it's folded in half we make a cut right in the middle; a little snip, and then; like we made our hole in the shoe box; we work our way to the outside, and we start cutting around. It's going to be the thicker outer ring that's going to make up the ring, and the middle is going to be hollow. So, we start cutting around; trying to get as close to the outside as possible. You should be able to do it in one cut, and just make a full circle, and cut out the middle, and then you'll be left with your ring. It makes a perfect ring for the ring toss game. These plastic lid covers come in different sizes; depending on the cans that they're covering, so you might want to take a varying range of sizes of lids, and make different strategies. You can make the smaller lids worth more points if they get it over the stick, and the larger rings are worth less points. This is all a variation of how to play the game. When you go around the middle just make sure that you don't go too close to the end, because the ring will not be able to be thrown if it has a cut in it. It has to be totally closed. So make sure that you just go around, and cut out the middle, but where it starts getting thick in the overlap it should remain intact. If you really want to make the game complete, you can have different color lids, and you can have teams so you can know exactly who got the ring over the stick. Here, we're using some green lids, and we have some white clear plastic lids. We can divide the lids up into two different teams. Then when you're looking at the stick, it's easier to tell which team got their ring over the stick. These are all different variations, and little pointers of how to vary the game. The nice thing about this project is that most of the supplies we're using are things found around the house, and it's amazing how you can just take these household items, and turn them into a really fun game that can be hours of fun. So, I've shown you how to make the rings for the ring toss game to conclude our project."
