"Hi! This is Ginny with Simply Beautiful Crafts on behalf of Expert Village and today I would like to show you how I made my favorite wreath, my Nautical Wreath that was going to go into my newly remodeled bathroom. Before you make something that is going to be painted, you want to take your bare pretzel ring, take your paints and paint it and then if you want to put glitter on it, sprinkle the glitter on while the paint is wet. Let the paint dry and then put your varnish or shellack on it. Once it is dry you are ready to embellish your wreath. Now you can use ribbon or thread or string or twine. I used this twine and I doubled it so that it would look like rope. You can do that or you can just braid it however you chose to put it through, then you want to thread your wreath. Start from behind and make sure you cross over the place where the wreath has been joined that will give extra strength to your wreath and it will keep it from breaking easily. Wind your ribbon or your twine all the way through your wreath till you have it at the end. Once you are done you can use your glue gun now, it will keep things on your wreath now that it has been shellacked. Go ahead and put a bead of hot glue right there, secure your twine, and then you are ready to embellish your wreath. Now I happened to find a great deal at my local craft store, these little calendars were a dollar a piece and inside it had all kinds of different ocean fronts and beach properties, so I chose one to put on here and I just used some piece of paper from my scrap booking to put on the back. You can glue it on and once it is dry cut it around the corners and you have it sized to fit and then you need to embellish your wreath. These are buttons and these are metal; I call them doodads, you can find them in your local craft store in the scrap booking section or in the button section. Once you have chosen your embellishments, what you want to do then is lay them on your wreath so that you have the balance that you want, you have the look that you want and then you change them around and if that is not exactly what you wanted to do, you can change it. Once you have decided exactly how you want it to be you can take your glue gun, put glue around your button or your embellishment or put it right on your pretzel wreath, put your embellishment on. I left strings long on mine so that it would just give this kind of effect and the last thing that you want to do is to make some kind of a hanger for it. I used the twines since I felt like it was in keeping with the theme so I put the twine on it, hot glued it and there you have it, a wonderful decoration for your home or a gift for someone who is into sailing and that is how I made my favorite Nautical Pretzel Wreath.
