"Hi! This is Ginny with Simply Beautiful Crafts on behalf of Expert Village. Today we are going to make a wreath for a musical person whether it is you or as a gift. This is the wreath I made for my musical daughter. What you are going to want to do if you are going to make a wreath like this is to take your already prepared pretzel ring, but before you embellish it you want to paint it. Just about any kind of paint will do. This is acrylic paint, which is water based. I prefer water based paints because they are easier to clean up. After you have painted your base, you might want to sprinkle a little bit of glitter on it and let it dry. Once it is thoroughly dry, then you going to want to shellack or varnish it and have your finish. Then when it is completely finished you are ready to begin to embellish your wreath. I found this delightful ribbon and that is what I used. You want to thread your ribbon through your wreath, starting so that it goes over a joint. One way to do it ahead of time is to measure your wreath, go all the way around your wreath with your ribbon and then go about a fourth of the way around again and then you will know that you have enough ribbon and you won’t run short. So you want to thread your ribbon through your wreath in and out. If you have a ribbon that has one side that is different from the other you want to make sure that that side is always up so that you have consistency around your wreath. There you see it, just twist it so you want to make sure that you have the right side up. Very simple to do and remember you are smarter and stronger than the ribbon; don’t let it get the better of you. Once you have woven your ribbon through your wreath and it is all the way through, you are going to want to secure it so that it stays in place. I use a hot glue gun. You can use a hot glue gun to hold your pretzel wreath together because it will not stay, but once it has been varnished or shellacked your hot glue gun is just as good and much quicker. When your ribbon has been woven through your wreath and it is all the way through, you want to secure it so you put it on the back side where it will not show, take your glue gun and lay a bead of glue in that scene and press your ribbon until it is completely dry. Once you have your ribbon through your wreath, you are ready to decorate it. Before you put anything on the back if you are going to put something in the center, you want to go ahead and turn it over. I found this in the scrap booking section when you have all those little tags and it happened to be in one of those, you could do it on plain paper, you could do it off the Internet or you could just simply leave a hole there. If you want to turn it over and glue it inside of your wreath, you can use hot glue or Elmer’s glue for that. Once you have that in place that is when you want to take your embellishments and put them around. Once you have decided where they go and you have glued them in place, then you make yourself a little bow, put it on the bottom, make sure you have a little piece for a hanger at the top, glue it in back and voilà, you have your Musical Wreath for your musical person.
