"Hello! My name is Duane Carter and on behalf of Expert Village, I am going to be talking today about learning how to listen to and appreciate music. Repetition is one of the most used and most recognizable devices. Used from the ancient times throughout all cultures, one of the most common forms of repetition is the antiphony or the call in response. Though it had been used greatly, it is probably most recognized today in gospel music where you have a leader singing a phrase which is answered by the choir or congregation. Antiphony singing can be heard at various forms of music. However it is most recognized because it has been used extensively in religious services. Its main purpose was to get the congregation actively involved in the worship service. "
