"Hi, my name's Elissa with ExpertVillage.com and today I'm going to show you how to crochet a scarf. Now I'm going to show you how to make a crocheted scarf using this specialty textured acrylic blend yarn. It's got a lot of movement to it, it's got a spiral pattern to it which can make it a little bit difficult to work with. And for this I'm going to use my largest needle, which is a six and a half millimeter. Because the yarn itself is not very thick, the texture makes it a much wider yarn. I'm going to start off the same, with our slip knot. Make a loop, put your hook through and pull it tight. And again, because you can get kind of lost in the texture of this yarn, it's important to keep track of your stitches. So, hold on to the knot, and put your hook in front of the yarn, behind the yarn and pull it through. And when you're beginning to use this kind of yarn it's good to make rather large stitches so that it's much easier to keep track of each one. So, I would suggest pulling the yarn through a little bit further so that you make extra large stitches when starting out. So, put your hook in front of the yarn, behind the yarn and pull it through and pull it out just a bit to make a larger stitch. In front of the yarn, behind the yarn and pull it through. So you can see it can get kind of confusing because of the pattern, which are why larger stitches are much easier to deal with. Pull it through, and that's our chain stitch, so that's what chain stitches look like with this specialty textured acrylic blend yarn."
