"Hi, my name's Elissa with ExpertVillage.com and today I'm going to show you how to crochet a scarf. Now that I've shown you how to work with some pretty traditional types of yarn I'll show you how to work with some non-traditional yarn. These are specialty yarns that are a little more difficult to work with because the thread itself is very narrow, very thin, and there are all these feathers coming off of it that make it very slippery and just more difficult to work with. So, with this particular yarn you're going to want to use a pretty small needle. This one is a three and a half millimeter needle. And, you're going to start off just the same way, by making a slip knot, fold the yarn over and pull the loop through and then put your needle in and pull it tight. And, what's really important with this yarn is to keep a good grip because it is very slippery because of the material it's made from. So, you're going to pull your pinkey through, put your index underneath and hold the knot, and you're gonna wanna hold it on pretty tightly because it's very easy for this to slip out of your hands. And, we're going to start of with a chain stitch, so put your needle in front of your yarn, behind your yarn, and pull it through. And each stitch is going to be very small, much smaller than what we've worked with before. So, it's going to be more difficult to keep track of each stitch, so be sure you're counting your stitches and make them uniform in size. So, put your needle in front of the thread, behind the thread and pull it through, and you have a chain stitch. And, that's how you work with some more difficult types of thread."
