How to Paint the Sides of a Food Tray

"DAVID CLEMEN: Hi, I'm David Clemen on behalf of Expert Village. And today, we are going to paint a wooden food tray. All right, now we've got the bottom painted, and we're going to move to the sides, but I'm going to try not to paint the top of this--the rim of the tray yet because I'm going to have to flip it over to paint the sides and the bottom. So basically I want to be very carefully. And now that I have this kind of colorful, you know, light picture here, I might actually go for the inside on the sides. I might go with this darker color just to kinda give it some definition. So I'm going to take this dark blue and just a touch of the black and some purple, and mix it up together here. And I'm just going to start at one side and just--you actually start at the bottom and bring your brush up, and you'll get a neat texture as well. And you can just methodically go around the sides and you'll be picking up colors from the bottom of the tray and the colors will change as you go around, which is kind of neat. And you just keep going. If it's not spreading, you can just take a dip of water and get some of this other dark green here and mix it in, and just keep going around. Get some more of this royal blue color and keep going. And see, I'm going to get some white from right there because there's kind of a big clump. And just methodically going to around the inside and start my brush at the bottom and just drag it up. In that way, I'm not catching the top of the tray yet. I'm going to get to that last. And that is painting the inside of the tray."
