"DAVID GIBSON: On this clip with advanced pottery, I'm going to work with the loop tool here to carve into the rim of our platter. It may usually wait a little bit longer to let this rim and our slip set up, but I'll just go ahead and do it anyway. I'm going to take our loop tool and make some marks through the slip or maybe on the outside of our slip. Now, I come along here and pick a spot and just carve through. Be direct with your tool. Nice, confident mark. Again, if you let this clay set up a little bit, it'll perform better for you."
