"In this clip we're going to talk about manipulating our project. I have formed the pot on the wheel. We have stopped throwing it. I have dried my hands, which is crucial, so that my hands aren't slipping or sliding over the top of the piece. With the metal rib we took and smoothed our piece out so there isn't any slurry or slip on the outside. I can then come along with my hands in the front, and take and grab my pot and twist and manipulate the rim however I like to. So just with equal pressure inside and out, I'm forming the top of my vase. Spinning it around, again not too hard, not too soft. Giving the lip of our vase a little bit of flair. It's important to let the piece of pottery set up a little bit. Timing is crucial. You don't want to wait too long and have your piece get too dry, or do it too quickly and your piece be too soft."
