"Hi this is David Jackel on behalf of Expert Village and I'm going to talk to you about sharing your digital files once you've recorded them. Now there are different reasons why you're going to want to share what you've recorded. One is obviously as a musician you wanna put what you have out there and give it to the general public. But another reason is if you're working in a team you want to share ideas that you've come up with and send them to your band mates. So one thing that I often do is that I come up with an idea. I turn it into an MP3 and I e-mail it to my band mates to use as a demo. So this is my band's web site. I've put MP3s up here that people can download. There's also other web sites like My Space and Pure Volume. There's really countless web sites now out there where you can post your MP3s and share them for people to see. Or if you're feeling like you want to make some money from what you've recorded you can go to iTunes, the Rhapsody. There's all these different sites out there where you can sell your music. Selling your music over the Internet is a really good idea. Especially if you're and aspiring musician because you have distribution wherever people have the Internet. And you get a much better cut usually than what you would get if you went through a record label, and it costs you nothing to put it online. I go through a service that I spend about ten dollars a year on to have all my music up and then people can buy it and I get seventy cents for every dollar, which is a very good deal and much better than what you would get if you were going through a record label. So, you can use the Internet to sell your music. You can use it to share your music. You can use it to send new ideas out there. It's really wonderful because when you record digitally it's just a step away to send it out there. You have the digital file and you can do whatever you want with it. And then if people want to send you ideas, they send you an idea through e-mail or whatever and then you can put it onto your digital recording program and you can play on top of it. And this is why digital technology really is the future for musicians, for song writing and for song sharing. "
