"My name is Dave Jackal and I am going to give you some advice on self promotion on stage. Some people would say its not very classy to promote yourself on stage. That's nonsense. You should always promote yourself at any given opportunity. Some people are going to show you at the show, not going to know which band you are or they may just forget because if you don't have the name of your band written somewhere in big letters, people aren't going to know who you are. You can't assume that people are going to know who you are. People's memories are short. Always make sure that you repeat things. If you are going to plug your website once, you should plug it 10 times. Thank people after every song and then tell them that you have a CD for sale, tell them where they can find the CD, let them know where you are going to be playing next and remind them the name of your band is because people are going to forget. Unless you have some kind of special deal with a club. It's okay to say you are going to be playing at some other completing club at another night. The club owner isn't going to be there. The most important thing is that you are selling yourself to the audience. The audience has to know when they can hear you next. Some people say this is selling out. You shouldn't be such a self-promoter. The truth is if you don't self-promote, people aren't going to listen to you and that's the end of your career. If that happens, it doesn't matter that you sold out or didn't sell out. All that is going to happen is that you are not going to be playing any more. So if you want to have another gig, make sure you talk a lot about yourself at the one you are playing. "
