" Hi! I am Debbie and I am here with Expert Village.com. Today we are going to talk about doing crafts with your young children at home and one of the reasons why you want to do crafts with your young children at home, not only is it fun for your kids, but it works on those fine motor skills, it works on creativity, it works on problem solving and even higher level thinking skills, not to mention that your kids love it. One of the things we are going to talk about today is keeping a place for your child to have all their art supplies. It’s really important that they have a container or a place where they know where everything is, also teaching responsibility, keeping up with your things. You can get any kind of tub will work. Today, I just have one little plastic box here. I was going to give you some ideas of things to have in the box. Of course you need good old crayons, some washable paints, make them washable so that you are not going to have any accidents at home, little things like pipe cleaners, beads, any kind of assortment of things that kids can just be creative and make things, clay is excellent, play dough is excellent. Of course, you need some good glue, and some markers, scissors, and of course, you want smaller scissors for young hands depending on how old your child is, something to draw on, just anything that your child can be creative, stickers are good, and anything works. But having it in a self-contained area and self-contained place is real important. Even something that they can take with them when they are going to grandma’s house, when they are to going to the baby-sitter, anything like that, it just promotes all those creativity skills and fine motor skills."
