"Hi, I'm Neily Nathan. You've heard of the Secret, well now my friend Debra McMahon has written the book of universal knowledge. Ten years ago, prior to the media buzz of the secret and the reason I'm bringing you up is there is a parallel to your book, correct? Yes, absolutely. And some of the ideas of the Secret which has been around for centuries, from the beginning of time. What is universal knowledge first of all? Well, universal knowledge is just what the truth is in the universe. That's what the Secret is, it brought to surface the ancient wisdom that's been around forever. Each of us is exporting it out of our bodies in a different way. Its coming into different books and different opportunities, but the truth is its ancient wisdom. Its knowledge that's universal no matter where you live, no matter what kind of clothes you wear. Its truth about being human and about being in life and that's whats really exciting about it its because there's so many places that its now coming into the public eye and its a good thing for people to be able to really have the rules of the game sort of. How it really does work. Its like this wonderful, precious gift and people can't accept it. I hear all the time why somebody can't make money, can't find that perfect job, we'll never find love. And you have this great gift and they're rejecting it. How do you address that? Well, in the beginning, the first rule of course was life is perfect which means that everything that's happening according to the divine plan. That everything that happens in your life is absolutely in divine order and that, just because it looks some way to you, that that makes it any less than perfect is simply an illusion. There isn't really good or evil on the planet, there's only the truth of what is which is the unfolding of your life to your divinity to what you came here for. We each came here for something and hopefully we will wake up enough to remember that's what we came here for and to remember what it is we came for, which is usually so apparent. People that say to you a thousand times in your life oh you should do this, you should do that. That's probably your gift. You might want to pay attention to that. So the second principle is about staying in the present. Staying in the present and really paying attention whats going on around you so that your life can unfold, so that you can get the life that you came here for, the life that you really want so that you can feel fullfilled so that's when depression comes on is when people don't allow themselves to step into their greatness and step into what they came here for. So you believe our lives are stated, written up in the sky from the master universe, or that we are in charge of we create our lives? I believe that we absolutely create our lives and we all came here with everything we need to create the perfect live, to create the life of our dreams. Its all there, right inside us in that quiet, small space inside us where we pay attention. The space where we can go and look and be in the silence and be in the present and remember and step into that and then you bring that out into the world so that you walk in peace and joy and love and you get to experience the world in that way. What are some things that people can do to tap into that quiet? What are some ideas for that? Obviously the most common thing that is brought up is breath. When you breathe, which is always available to you unless of course you're dead, you have your breath. We need lessons on breathing because people are shallow breathers, they're holding they're breath most of the time and they don't know how to do the hatha yoga. And sometimes people have to close their eyes to go into breath because they're so distracted by the world around them, what appears to be in the process of looking at everything around you, you have judgements, you have evaluations going on and you miss that moment of opportunity which is every moment of life where you can step into that place and breathe and be in the present and you open your eyes and the world looks different. Alright, so if we're in a situation like we're stuck in traffic or we're at home and our spouse and our children are driving us crazy and we're trying to get out of the house so your suggestion is to just maybe stop, close our eyes? And you can meditate, you can do a momentary meditation. A one minute meditation? Yeah, or even a two second meditation. I have a meditation that I do every hour of my life which is I step into gratitude just for an instant. Every hour? Every hour I have something I do that triggers me every hour and I step into my gratitude and it takes a second, but it centers me and brings me back. Just count your blessings everything that you're grateful for. Yes, absolutely. But that brings you very much to the present. Its really interesting when it happens in the middle of crisis or something when you're like oh my gosh and then you suddenly go gratitude. Its wonderful. And even if you're having a crisis, its perfect, is that what you're saying? That's right. That's exactly it. You got it. That is very hard to grasp. Yeah, yeah, well there's a lot of reasons for us because of our belief systems not to grasp that, not to really get the perfection. So what you're saying is almost correlates with some religious beliefs too. Absolutely, I mean its all the same thing. I mean if you get the oneness of the world there are no religions, there's only the oneness of all of us that we're all connected, that you are part of me and I'm part of you and when you can step into that, you're really in the present. That's why intimacy is such a wonderful time for moments of sanctuary and peace and joy and love because you step into that. That moment. Intimacy is hard for many people. Its a scary thing. What are some of your ideas to overcome that fear? Of intimacy? Right, of being intimate. Right, just being in life, being on board, being travelling the journey that is in front of you as opposed to as I say, pushing the river. Its like paying attention. All of us have experience of body affirmations where something. What's a body affirmation? Where something happens in your body. When I hear the national anthem, I get a thing that runs down my neck, its like I love my country and I feel something on a cellular level there and I'm very in the moment when that happens. I mean different things happen that you may see a child smile and you're so in the moment, you're so saturated with the beingness of that smile. And it brings tears to our eyes, tears are a wonderful way to know when we're present because. I feel it right now. Its wonderful, we came here for this. This is what we came here for, to be alive and to enjoy life and when we do that it naturally unfolds that we get the life we want, that we settle into our dreams and wonderful things happen. Changes occur. Alright so next we'll be moving on to the next principle. Thank you."
