"I'm Candi-Cane Canncel with Expert Village. So this clip I'm going to show you how to actually cut out your strap from your fabric. So you take the measurement that you wanted to use for your guitar strap, in my case it was forty-nine inches, and you're just going to measure out your fabric. My fabric's a little bit less than that. So what I'm just going to do is cut out an extra piece and attach it to the end, just to make it long enough. And we won't really see the seam because we're going to be appliqueing over it later. And I decided to make my guitar strap two and a half inches wide. So we're going to add an inch for seam allowance. So go ahead and measure out three inches and place a pin. Just go all the way down and measure three inches up. Actually it will be three and a half inches up. And then you can go ahead and cut straight across. And because I need to add a little extra, there's about eight inches, I'm just going to measure out eight inches, put a pin in and then go ahead and measure three and a half inches up. And what we're going to end up doing is stitching our piece to our guitar strap to make it long enough. Because most fabrics are either forty-five inches or sixty inches, sometimes you're going to be using a fabric that's a little too short for the length of your guitar strap. So what I did, is just cut an extra piece and I'm just going to stitch it and it will be one whole piece. You won't really see the seam because what we'll do is end up putting an applique on top of it. So it will kind of hide it. The other thing you could do is divide the measurement in half and put a little bit on each end, and then add appliques so it looks like just a different design detail."
