"I'm Candi Cane-Canncel with Expert Village. I'm a clothing designer and sewing instructor based in Los Angeles, and I've been sewing since I'm fourteen and I absolutely adore it. I think it's one of the funniest crafts that you can actually take up. I started making a skirt, actually, that was my first project, to wear to a rock concert. And after that, I just fell in love with it and I made a bunch of different stuff, ended up going to fashion school and majoring in costuming, and then coming out with my own line called Candy Land, which is candyland.com. One of my favorite things about sewing is taking a technique that could be really boring or blah and making it really fabulous. Like instead of just doing a regular quilt, actually taking quilting techniques and putting into something unusual, like a throw pillow or even a guitar strap. And a guitar strap is exactly what we're going to make today. I'm going to teach you how to take something functional like a guitar strap and using quilting techniques, make something that's really, really cool. I'm going to show you how to design a pattern for appliques, how to actually attach the appliques, sew up a strap, add the little guitar tabs, and voila! You'll have a fabulous guitar strap for your next rock concert."
