"I'm Candi Cane Canncel with Expert Village. This topic is patch pockets. Now patch pockets are one of the most versatile easy pockets to do. Basically what it is a single layer of fabric that is hemmed and then actually sewing on to the garment or onto the purse or whatever what you're going to be using this for. They can be any number of shapes. You can do a square shape or a rectangular, it can be even curved, they can be slightly pointed, there is any number of things to do with the patch pocket. So the first thing you want to do when you're determining what you're going to use it for. Are you actually going to use this as a decorative thing or is this going to be something that's going to hold say a cell phone. If it's purely decorative, you can get away with it being smaller and maybe not as functional. But if it is going to be something say like on the outside of a purse or a jacket, then you're going to want to hold things in, you're going to want to make it larger. So for this instance we're actually just going to do about 4" wide X 5" long."
