How to Measure a Lap Zipper

"Hi, I'm Candi Cane Canncel with Expert Village. In this clip I'm going to show you how to do a lap zipper. The first step is taking your zipper and measuring how far down I go. I just want to put a pin there at the end and then we're going to be stitching the rest of the way. So going to your machine, go ahead and stitch about 5/8 of a seam allowance and when you have that done, just go ahead and press open up the whole seam. You are just going to be pressing opening the little bit of the ways back so that it's nice and flat. You just want to make sure it's really flat and once you have that in, we're going to go ahead and take one of the sides and you are just going to move it out an 1/8". Go ahead and pin it (pinning)and once that is done, the next step will be pinning the zipper in."
