"Hi my name is Charlie Labarda and I'm here with Expert Village to talk about beginning archery. At this moment we're going to talk about maintaining your bow. It is a very easy process to look after your bow, it is very simple. I'm going to talk about the string first , ok, when you shoot your bow a lot you will notice that your string will get fuzzy, really fuzzy. There is a wax that you can purchase at any local dealer. You can rub it on real good all around the string then slide your fingers up and down on the bow and the wax will cake the bow and keep the fuzziness down and lengthen the life of your string. It is better if apply the wax when the weather is nice and warm the wax will just melt. Do not matches or anything sharp on this bow. The string has a lot of tension so be very careful what you put next to your string. I protect my string with a case around it so that it does not get damaged when I travel. Check all your bow, your Allen Wrench screws with an Allen Wrench set you can check all that, make sure your side is not lose. This is very important your side must not be lose at anytime, it will throw you off. So check the tightness, do this every time you shoot. Make sure there are no cracks or sprain on the string and your side is intact. The release, the same thing, make sure your release is working perfectly and its intact. There are many types of releases out there so choose one that fits your hand. So just check your equipment and make sure they are all in proper working order. Now the arrow is the same thing. You must check your arrow properly. Every arrow that you shoot must be checked before you shoot it that there isn't a weak spot or a crack or that the tip is lose. The tip could easily be lose, make sure that they are tight. And then after that make sure that the arrow body doesn't have any cracks or it didn't hit anything. I check the vein, the vein is very important if they are lose or cracked or unglued it will not break properly. I also check the knot. Make sure the knot is in perfect condition because when you shoot an arrow, sometimes you can hit it you could crack it and you might not see it so make sure it is in there tight and everything is in perfect condition. Everything must be in perfect condition to shoot an arrow and make sure your bow is in perfect condition and then you will have a really good time shooting your bow."
