Video Transcript

"Hi, I'm Christine Pichini with Expert Village and today I'm going to teach you how to do the knit stitch. OK, so to do a knit stitch here we are with our working stitches on the left needle, nothing on the right, starting at the beginning of a row. Hold the needles loosely as we described, in your hands, and taking the right needle, you're going to dip it underneath the stitch facing you, like so. That's step one. Now you're only dipping it underneath the top part of the stitch here, not the underneath part here, leave that be. Dip it under. Take your yarn, wrap it around the right needle and holding it somewhat tensely or tautly, pull it under the loop and over the needle, like so. That's your first ever knit stitch. I'm going to show it to you again closer up too the camera. Dip the needle under the stitch, the top of the stitch, wrap the yarn around the back of the needle, then this is the trickiest part, pull the stitch through and lift the stitch up over the needle. Under the top, wrap it around, pull through and over. Under, wrap around, under and over. Under the top stitch, wrap the working yarn, pull the new stitch through and up over the needle. Under, wrap, pull through the loop and over the needle. There are your new knit stitches."
