"Hi, I'm Christine Pachini for Expert Village and today I'm going to teach you some basic knitting techniques. Another way that some people hold the yarn is by having a full turn around this pinky like so, and I'll show you again. Lay the yarn over, go all the way around and then hold all four fingers and then turn the hand over. And the finger motion is the same. Now I don't love this method because I find that the way I hold the yarn, if I wrap it all the way around this pinky finger, it's hard for the take-up, from your ball of yarn, to pull out as smoothly. So when I've tried doing this in the past, I always end up having to unravel it to take up more yarn which defeats the purpose. So that's why I don't use that method. Although some of you might find that that's an easier way to hold to keep a handle on the tension for the right hand needle."
