"Hi, I'm Christine Pichini with Expert Village. Today I am going to teach you how to cast on in knitting. Start with a slip knot on the left tandem needle. Taking the right handed needle, you're going to go under the loop as if to knit, take the working yarn around the back of the needle, pull the yarn through, and then dip the left handed needle under the loop and pull through. There's your new cast on stitch. Let's try it again. Take your right needle, go under the loop as if to knit, yarn around the back, pull through the loop, and then dip the left under and pull through. There you are. This one can be a little pesky, so I like to just hold it with my thumb before knitting the new cast on stitch. You can see the stitches before this last one that looks askew, are very straight. It's only that last working stitch that seems to be on a slant. But it will all work out in the end. "
