Summary: Crocheting a hat consists of several rows that are simple to do but a bit tricky. Watch this free video clip with a crochet expert to show you how to continue crocheting a border.
"Now that we've connected our green, we're going to go ahead and start working with our new color. And we're going to chain up one, because we're going to be using the same pattern, but by using the same pattern in a different color is just really going to accent it. So what we're going to do is we're going to find our first hole, go underneath your first chain, if we can get it under there, this is a much tighter crochet. So there we go, underneath our first chain, pull it through, and there we go, and see now we're starting our new color. You just go underneath each chain and remember try and keep your hand about the same because you don't want it to keep getting tighter and tighter, it will kind of give you a bubble look. If you want that, go ahead and do it, but I'm trying to keep a nice straight, skully type of hat going, so we're just going to keep going under here, and I'm just trying to keep my hand really loose, try to make sure that these loops match up with these loops down here, and work just like that. If you pull it too tight what you'll notice is, is that your two base yarns will be off to the side compared to the top of the loop, so you really want to try and make sure that it stays pretty centered, and don't be afraid to just undo a couple of loops to make sure that you're keeping your hand in the position that you want it to be. So just keep it nice and loose, and make sure that you're keeping it nice and centered on top of these chains just like this, and you can keep working around, and we'll have a nice green stripe to go into this blue hat."
