What we're getting ready to do is make our first starting chain so we can start our hat. So what you're going to do is you're going to take your yarn and I'm using a finer yarn, because the smaller the yarn the smoother it will be. And what we're going to do is we're going to take our yarn by the end and you're going to wrap it around your finger to make this little pretzel-type shape and you're going to stick your needle right through here and pull it. I'm going to pull on the end. And that's how we make our first little loop. Now that we have our loop on our needle, we're going to crochet four chains. That's one, and we'll just grab your yarn and just pull it through, that's two, that's three and again, that's four. And now that we have these four chains, what we're going to do is we're going to take with our needle with this loop on it right here, we're going to go the very last chain, which is right here and you're going to stick your needle through there and you're going to grab your yarn and pull it through right there just like that. Now what we've done, go ahead and just stretch that out just so I can show you, is we've made our first little circle. You can see right here. I stick my needle through there, again as we've made just a little circle of our chains going around. And this is how we're going to work on our hat. We're going to crochet in a circle, we're just adding all the way around until it gets to the desired size. And now we're ready to start our first row.
