Crochet Square Tips & Advice

"Hi, this is Beth Essington for Expert Village. This is the little swatch we were working on earlier if you remember. We have all the various stitches on here from chain to double, half double, single, treble, and so on. This is a self striping yarn like I was talking about. These are wonderful, they turn into all different colors as you work on it and you never know what kind of a pattern you are going to get. Sometimes you get a very stripy object, sometimes you just get little clumps of color throughout. This is a real pretty pastel one, but it comes in all different shades and they all are just beautiful. At this point I am making little squares. This is going to grow up to be a bedspread eventually but right now it is just a couple of squares. But when you find a nice little square pattern that you enjoy doing with crochet, it is a lot of fun. This is as you can see what the self striping yarn did, the exact same pattern, but two different things and again the yarn will change and turn different colors depending on what you are doing. When you can make a square with crochet you can make just about anything. I have seen sweaters made out of squares, you can do pot holders, you can do place mats, there is even a pattern for booties made out of squares and it comes out very cute. So this is, they are a lot of fun, the self striping yarn are a lot of fun you can make lots of fun items with them. So get out there and enjoy."
