Series Summary

One of the easiest ways to introduce your child to the world of artistic exploration is to allow them the freedom to initiate and participate in their very own art projects. One very simple but truly fun project for children and adults is the creation of homemade cards using a variety of art supplies and, naturally, creative vision! Parents who are drawn to such timeless and innovative hobbies as scrap-booking and homemade frame-making will delight in projects like our expert's featured here in this series. Your kids will love creating their own shapes with the sponges and watching their mind's eye create incredible cards for friends and family, and you will open your creative spirit wide as you help your child discover their artistic potential.

"Hi! This is Brenda we’re working today on our cards using sponges. Now I think for this project today I'm going to use my little piece of sponge that I cut out of just of a kitchen sponge like this and I got some various colors of acrylic paint here on my plate and I think that I'm going to start randomly just putting some ink, I'm sorry some paint here on my card, I’ve got some green here like this, got some other green contrast, got some blue I'm going to dip into that and it’s just going to be a hodge podge. We’re just going to see what we can come up with that has no order to it all, it’s just random pieces of our artwork like this now if we wanted to get some red in here we could do that for a little bit more contrast, got some gold it almost looks like wall paper because there is no rhyme or reason to it. It’s just having fun with it, if you want to put some newspaper down and that way you could get all over you table cloth, I'm just taking any color here that I can get and you can just have a lot of fun with this because you don't know what it is going to turn out like, let it dry and then you write your message on the inside, it can be a invitation to a shower or to a party or a thank you note and it’s ready for the mail.
