"Hi this is Brenda and today we are working on our pop-up cards. For this project we will need our 5 x 8 index cards that you can buy in the school supply part of your store. It’s a heavy card stock material. We can use our rubber stamps and a stamp pad, scissors, markers, pen and it is time to get started. We take one of our cards and just fold it in half like this. On the side that is plain, I get one of my markers and I can write just any word I want to; maybe someone’s name or the word thanks. Perhaps this could be a thank you card. The secret to this though is to write the word so that it falls on the fold of your paper so I am just writing the word thank right now. Right I do is fold it back like this, take my scissors and I just begin to cut only on the vertical lines just like this. This is going to make an interesting card in just a few minutes. Just like this. What were we doing? We are going to have to turn it back and forth to work with it. What we will be doing is punching out the parts of this card that are blank. You keep punching and punching and this will be our finished product. You can see here that I punched into the card; those are the blank areas and so the word thanks stands out so that when you open it up like this, here is the side angle, you can see the word that pops out at you. This says thank you and could be used as a thank you card. I also have a sheet of paper that is going to be the liner, same size 5 x 8 and we are going to place this behind here to hide our cuttings. This can be of a different color. This sheet can be different color of construction paper. Maybe a yellow or red that way it gives a contrast. Then you can write on your card thank you message or whatever you would like. You can put it in an envelope if you like to or you can tie a ribbon around it that makes an interesting effect. Raffia is also pretty to use. You can put the person’s name on the front in calligraphy. It just makes an interesting card when you open it up and it pops out at you. "
