" Hi! I’m Candi Cane-Canncel on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this topic we’re going to learn basic seams. So you cut out your fabric and you line it up with the two edges together and you’re just going to want to pin them together to hold them in place for sewing. And a good way to pin is actually up and down as apposed to going side to side, because this way when you’re sewing you could just run the stitch along here and either pull out your pins as you go or just simply sew over them, it just makes it faster for sewing. So you have your item pinned you’re going to put in according to what stitch length you want, oh excuse me what seam allowance you want in this case we’re going to do 5/8 and you’re just going to simply sew. You’re going to be taking your pins out, have a nice stitch line and then we’re going to actually press the seam line open. So you have the nice stitch in place and now we want to press open the seam, so you do that by pulling out your fabric and you have the seam sticking out in the center, you take your hot iron, open up the seam a bit with your fingers and stick down the iron…press it really well and there you have it a nice finished pressed seam ready to go. on 8/2/2008 The majority of the video space is showing only the speaker. There was less than two seconds of close-up of the actions being taken. it would be better if we had more close-ups of her hands and the actions taken, rather than a wide screen shot of her talking. This seems to be the case for most of the videos.
