" Hi! I’m Candi Cane-Canncel on behalf of expertvillage.com. This topic is decorative stitches. Now once you’ve sewing a seam if you don’t have a finishing sewing machine which is called a Serger you’re going to want to do something to keep your edges in check. So a good way to use a decorative stitch is a zigzag stitch and all you do is basically find it on your machine which is going to be on the front, turn your wheel accordingly to what ever it is and you’re going to want to line up your edge of your fabric to where the needle hits and you’re just going to want go and stitch up the very, very edge. And what the zigzag is going to do is just keep your fabric kind of enclosed so that after repeated washings it doesn’t fray to much to the point that it just looks really messy and you can also could use this stitch in a number of things for appliqués for trim you know just like you would want to use it in contrasting color it could just be a fun little design thing for your project. on 8/2/2008 This video is the perfect setting for showing what you did close up. After you finished, you zig-zag stitch, you could easily have shown it to the camera close-up so that the viewer could see the stitch. Common sense, really.
