Adding a Zipper to an Appliquéd Throw Pillow

"Hi, I'm Candi Cane Canncel with Expert Village. So in this clip I'm going to show you how to install a zipper into your appliquéd pillow. So the first thing we're going to do is measure our zipper. I have a funky zipper here that actually have two zipper heads and that is something that I picked up from the fabric store. So I'm going to go ahead use it and it's also a little bit longer than my pieces. What I'm going to do is measure how much I actually need and I'm going to put a pin in there and I'm going to go ahead and cut it off. So you are going to take your zipper and measure out where you want it to be and come in about an inch on either side. Cause what you are going to do is actually stitch this close then you are going to do a basting stitching in the center because that is where you are going to insert the zipper and then stitch the last bit close. Then you'll end up with an opening from here to here and then this will be just the corners. Once you figure out where you want to go take it to the machine and we are going to put it in the stitch and put it in the basting stitch to prepare it for actually inserting the zipper. After you put it in your stitch and your basting stitch you are just going to go ahead and take it to your iron and press it open."
