"Hi, welcome back to Expert Village. Well that kind of concludes some of the techniques that I would suggest that you would do first warming up what you started with. Second of all the technique as far as relieving some type of tension in the calf muscles. So what we are going to do now is we are going to do some stretches for the calves. So one good stretch is lifting the leg up and applying pressure tarsals the feet toes. The base of the foot and just relax. Believe it or not it works a lot on the shin but it also works on the Achilles. If you pull on the Achilles you pull on the soleus and then you are pulling the gastrocnemius. That is what we are trying to get that pull right here. Just relax, lift it up and then pull again 2 or 3 times if good. Then relax. Circular motions and then just the last time feel a nice tightness right there. "

on 2/22/2009 Um if you are trying to stretch the gastrocnemius the knee must be fully extended. With the knee bent like you are showing you are just stretching the soleus. Please adjust accordingly.
