"So when you do a project in leather tooling or leather carving there's a couple different purchases you can take. One is to maybe buy a kit, so for example, like this is a kit that I haven't really started on yet, it's just kind of a book cover. And so something like this is kind of already been put together for you, you can kind of put any book you want inside this particular one. But then you can start out with things that are already assembled like this and do all your leather tooling on the front and the back and then you?re kind of done. Or, you can just buy your own raw leather and cut your own pieces and just kind of work on that. But the basic approach Is to just pick a design and just kind of get that design on the leather, just with, and I'll show you how that's done. Just kind of trace your design on the leather, then you start by basically outlining your design using cuts into the leather that are going to allow you to, it's kind of the first step in getting that three dimensional look to come out of the leather. And then you just kind of start working on one area at a time until you kind of have your finished piece here. And then there's various finishes here that you can add to it, you can add dyes, you can add kind of glossy like wax finishes, you can even add different colors to it. So we're going to kind of go through step by step and kind of see how you go from just having a piece of leather to having something that looks kind of nice and sort of finished like this. But to do that we have to go through some of the basic tools and see how they're used."
