How to Cut Out a Stained-Glass Pattern

"Okay now, one thing to think about when you cut this pattern is the fact that you are going to try and cut the pieces of glass exactly the size of these pieces. And so we are going to cut them apart and use them as patterns on the glass. But, remember that the foil is going to have a little bit of a thickness of its own and you are also going to have a little bit of solder flowing in between the foil wrapped pieces of glass. So what that means is that you can't really cut these lines straight and then use those as your patterns. You need to shave off a little bit from the edges. So what I like to do is I have drawn this with kind of a thick Sharpie. And again, this is something you kind of need to play with so that you get a good feel for it. But, when I cut these out, I am actually going to cut inside the Sharpie line for every piece because what that is going to do is give me that little allowance so that my copper foil and my solder will be able to fill those areas. And, I'll still be able to assemble the pieces so that they look like this. Because if I were to cut down the center of the Sharpie line then basically I have pieces that fit together perfectly as pieces of paper but they are not going to fit together as well once I wrap them in foil and solder them. I've just got a regular pair of scissors here, these aren't special scissors of any kind, just regular scissors, and now I am going to cut this apart. And remember, I have already numbered them and I've got my code about what each piece is going to be. So, I'm just going to cut these up into a puzzle and then we will go from there."
