"Hi I’m Anna and you can check out my website at annawillowglassdesign.30art.com. I am going to share with you now some of the safety aspects of working in a hot glass studio. So that you don’t get burned, we will use sometimes this kevlar sleeve to protect our arms from the radiant heat and sometimes flying chips of glass going every where, blowing glass or sculpting. So this protects my forearm and it makes life easier for my assistant. My assistant will often put on this awesome kevlar suit that is basically fire proof and when he’s got a big piece of glass that he needs to put in the annealer for me, he will put on that outfit to protect himself from burns and from radiant heat because he basically has to climb inside of a 900 degree oven at the end of every piece. The only thing that we always use in glass blowing studio are eye glasses to protect our eye sight because often times glass will fly around the studio and it can get into your eye and this does happen pretty often. So, just to be on the safe side we never go into the glass blowing studio without wearing eye protection. "
