"Hi I’m Anna from Annawillowglassdesign.30art.com and I wanted to show you a couple of different glass blowing tools that we use and these particular tools here you see on the glass working bench. The bench is very important itself but the tools that we use and these are called hand tools. This is a pair of jacks and a pair of tweezers. These are two of the most ancient tools that we use in glass blowing. These tools are very similar to the same kind of tools that the Egyptian’s were using 2,000 years ago. These are wooden blocks that we soak in water and we use these to ship the glass right after we got it out of the furnace. This is an interesting tool because using the water to soak the wood in actually creates a cushion of steam between the glass and the wood and that is actually what shapes the glass is the cushion of steam.
